City College’s proud tradition of success dates back to 1876 with the establishment of the Bancroft/Carrolton-Wright Literary Societies. The team has long been a magnet for political, social, academic, and entertainment leaders of the world. City emphasizes and competes in speech and debate at the highest of levels, including the Baltimore Urban Debate League (BUDL), the Baltimore Catholic Forensics League (BCFL), and other national tournaments.
